The location is the School Playfield where the Tea Party used to be, near the Vicarage Garden.

Second row up, third, Hannah Eccleston; bottom row, second from right, Janey Staines. Many older Bickerstaffe residents will have been taught by Miss Staines at Bickerstaffe C.E. School. She became a legend, and kept alive the tradition of Morris Dancing at the annual children`s Tea Party, always held on the second Saturday in June. Of her colleagues Nellie Woods trained the Maypole dancers. Can other children be identified in the photograph? The Photograph of neighbours round about, is taken outside The Pear tree Inn, Melling, one Bank Holiday. The employees are: left, Peter Owen, son of the woman (landlady) who lived there, killed in World war 1; right, Mr Manchester who lived nearby. Front row centre, smoking pipe, Austin Lyon, and on his left (to the right in the photo) his brother Ivy James Lyon. Can others be identified?
